Patrick Bamford Joins Sheffield United Despite Initiating Abusive Chants About Coach Wilder

The striker is now a member of the Championship side only half a year after starting disrespectful taunts targeting the team's coach, Wilder.

This experienced striker, a free agent since leaving Leeds, has agreed to a contract joining the second-tier strugglers through the winter. His seven-year spell at Elland Road finished through agreement this past summer.

Among Bamford’s last memorable actions while at Leeds was to lead abusive songs about Wilder amid the club’s success festivities in April. Currently, the one-cap England player will feature for Wilder as Sheffield United's boss looks to pull his beloved club away from the drop zone.

Past Conflict Involving the Striker & the Manager

The pair had a past prior to Leeds earned promotion back to the Premier League last season and United lost the promotion decider to Sunderland. Wilder described Bamford as a "muppet" when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and the Blades won automatic promotion whereas Leeds fell short in the playoffs.

Reconciliation and Moving Forward

Everything appears to have been put behind them with United, the Championship’s least productive attack, urgently requiring of a boost in attack while Bamford aiming to resurrect his playing days.

The song about Wilder gained traction in April. An apologetic Patrick along with Leeds boss, Daniel Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the following day.

Chris Wilder commented back then: “Had a conversation with Patrick yesterday and I’ve no problem whatsoever with it. I’m not sure about the language from a fellow pro! However I valued and admired him giving me a call.

“We had a short while and similarly I talked with Daniel Farke as well and we had a half-hour chat together and he is a super guy, a class act. Back in my playing days we used to give it and accept it and that is an integral part of football at every level, including Sunday league. I've got no problem at all. I am cool with the situation and I told him that to Pat.”

Recent Career Struggles

Bamford made 18 appearances with Leeds United last season but the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea FC and Boro player has struggled with fitness issues over the past few seasons.
