Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the early names under consideration to succeed Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was sacked on the weekend following the squad's ten-game winless beginning to the Premier League campaign.

And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have historic links to the team - are part of the options to be evaluated by the Wolves leadership.

Edwards is currently at another club, which would create a potential obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.

Nevertheless the former Luton manager - who played more than 100 of appearances for the club during his time as a player - is considered a leading contender for the position.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the Wolves board as they start the process of appointing a new manager.

Gary O'Neil is additionally emerging as a surprise contender, although he would be a surprising choice given he was released by Wolves in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham United player is currently unemployed which means the club would not be required to provide any buyout fee.
