The Streaming Platform is Developing a Popular Game TV Series from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The latest Far Cry game that audiences dived into was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and came out during October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for celebrating violence and mayhem with equal enthusiasm, all while weaving captivating, ideologically themed tales. It’s no surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two creators whose creations have exemplified all of those things.
About the Series
Based on Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' style by having a different location and ensemble in each season.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also star in the show, but currently, we do not know what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.
“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners constantly supports me with their constant trust and support.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone series. Every instalment is a variation of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can change from season to season, while always delving into the core of society through this multifaceted and chaotic perspective, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to partner with Rob and bring our common unconventional, daring style to the audience.”
A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
